Frequently Asked Questions

What is SoftWave TRT or ESWT (Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy)?
SoftWave TRT stands for SoftWave Tissue Regeneration Technologies and is the company that offers the only broad, unfocused true shock wave technology device.

SoftWave TRT is an alternative therapy to treat musculoskeletal and soft tissue conditions. It is a new, highly effective treatment whereby short, frequent and high-intensity sound waves moving as mechanical energy are applied to injured, degenerated, and/or painful areas of the body to dramatically reduce pain and increase mobility and function. This treatment accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating metabolism and enhancing blood circulation and cellular repair to regenerate damaged tissue. The healing energy wave created penetrates tissues and stimulates stem cells and growth factors in the body that are responsible for muscle and connective tissue healing

How are Treatments Performed?
Acoustic Wave or "True" Shock Wave Treatment (ESWT) is noninvasive. A gel is applied to the skin and acoustic waves are then released over the treatment area.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?
The number of treatments needed depends on the condition that is being treated and the area and/or injury. In many cases, only 6-8 treatments are needed. Each treatment session takes between 10-15 minutes.

What Types of Results Are Expected?
Beneficial effects are often experienced after only one or two treatments. Many patients report immediate pain relief after treatment. The technology has a high success rate per clinical studies. Patients treated report being pain-free and/or having significant reduction in pain. ESWT can eliminate pain, restore mobility and improve a person’s quality of life. True acoustic wave therapy can also dramatically increase the results of other regenerative treatments.

What are the Possible Side Effects?
SoftWave TRT has virtually no side effects. Patients can return to work immediately after treatment and there is typically no downtime. For some, redness and soreness can occur, but usually subsides in a day or two.

Are there any restrictions after treatment?
You should follow your provider’s instructions and you should not take any pain medicine or engage in any activities that would aggravate the injured area
